Having the right equipment-the tale of Diesel Ford 6. 0

The other day we had a Ford f-350 diesel engine with a 6. 0. anyone who has owned or had to work in one of these know that they are plagued with problems. This was a no beginning and it didn't take long to discover that the module control fuel injection was the culprit (FICM). Easy fix right? Was this shop, a simple matter of ordering module Ford, no problem here, they had plenty. (This is a common failure). Turns out that you have that "flash" this module after its installation. According to my man parts Ford useful only Ford can do this. IT IS NOT TRUE! We are a shop equipped with no fewer than 5 scanning tools and one of them is also a passage through the device. This was a simple matter of acquiring a short-term subscription motorcraft ($ 26.75) and down loading the software. Then plug it all and flash module, as an added benefit, the program searches all updated and allows you to make the re flash for them too. What a deal!

The moral of the story? If you're an auto repair shop in this day and age and not keep up with technology, get your customers to say "I'm sorry but you have to take it to the dealer. If you are a customer, look for a shop that can give you the diagnosis and repair of factory level. Many of the problems with the cars of today can be solved with a flash. General Motors with it's many problems with pass blocking that require a new bcm need a tech II scan tool to program the module.

At least in our area, some workshops are trained or equipped to diagnose and repair today's modern cars, however, as time goes on you will see more stores getting smart or goes out of business. Last year we had only send customers to the reseller if the car was under warranty or had a recall, since this would cost you nothing.
