Ford expects sales Doldrums edge will Wipe

Ford executives are hoping the new edge will be a strong player that can reverse the company's sales decline. The elegant teardrop-shaped light crossover is made more capable and more efficient because it is based on the concept of car not on the fundamentals of the truck.

Mark fields, Ford President of the Americas has predicted that the border would become a crossover hit. However, he further noted that in a market with numerous competitors and specialist vehicles, the border alone cannot save Ford. "This is not the silver bullet that the company is looking for because in this day and age, you need to have lots of products."

For some executives of Ford, border is regarded as crucial to the restructuring of the workflow to help the company reverse its moribund market shares. The latter has slid from about 26% in 1995 to about 17 percent this year. Ford's market share reduced by 8.6% until September, compared with the first 3 quarters of the year. In addition, the company lost $ 1.4 billion in the first six months of this year.

Jeff Schuster, Executive Director of global forecast of J.D. Power and Associates, said that the border is essential to the company for it to recover, as plans to end production of sedan, Taurus this month. Ford Taurus is a vehicle to drive midsize front wheel that replaced the model based on Fairmont rear wheel drive Ltd. Eventually, Taurus is being replaced by Ford five hundred (crossover SUV), Freestyle and fusion.

Edge, however, is not expected to replace the sales of the Ford Taurus parts and models. Furthermore, it should be around 100 thousand units per year. In the last year of production of Taurus, Ford expects to sell around 175000 units.

"I think rim is certainly the direction where the market is heading," Schuster said. "What kind of product, segment and style of the body, fits well to changes happening in consumer tastes, essentially the new family vehicle, the replacement for the traditional sedan."
