Shop owners who can spend just about every waking moment any work on your auto repair marketing or making something that is being sold to customers already have. Is really simple.

Two key points jump out at me. For the first time since Henry Ford pointed out, his clients rarely know exactly what they want from you. They focus on getting the car fixed, but they are not aware of the fact that they also want to have fun, they want to be pampered and want to be special. All of these needs are below the surface and yet surprisingly, more powerful than the simple need to have your car fixed.

The next point highly valuable was done by Steve Jobs. To be successful it is important to keep your information from many different sources and diversified; pay attention to whispers around you. Some of my most successful auto repair marketing ideas were borrowed from other industries, or persons who most owners of auto repair shop thought that was crazy. When I hear the whispers of multiple independent sources really get my attention.

As Henry and Steve both point out, knowing that your customer is real power when it comes auto repair marketing and your business. How many times you speak to your customers? I don't mean just ask them for their keys. I mean really talk to them and find out what are the forces driving their buying decisions today. Your answers can guide you to some incredibly profitable discoveries.

Start a business card collection! Collect a card for everyone that comes into your store. Collect a card for each business location to which you will. Restaurants, laundromats, banks, etc. wherever you go. At the end of each day to post all the cards that you collected in a cork board next to the table where you write up customers. During the process of writing clients will look for the Board of Directors looking for people or companies who are familiar with after they find them, they immediately feel more comfortable and safe to do business with you. Ford ZX2 repair Manual review

With Ford ZX2, you get your money because it provides the resources needed for a vehicle. He has no more tricks that would cost. It just has the basic elements that you need in a vehicle that will allow you to reach your destination with style and comfort you need. And the manual is readily available and easy to understand for which adds to the advantages. So this vehicle is not only good for families, but for the workers and students who can afford this car too.

Considering adding plastic repair detailing Mobile for your business?


What are the major considerations in plastic repair? This is a good additional revenue stream for someone running a mobile or car wash detailing company mobile? You know that we hear a lot about this in auto detailing industry, especially in the last ten years. But really the plastic has been used in cars since the 1930s when Henry Ford began to put it in their cars.

Ford had built a plastic deck cover for one of their cars and really jumped up and down to demonstrate their strength and quality at the Expo World he really took a sledgehammer to it. Henry Ford SR. always had a knack for drawing crowds. Once, he built a car from cannabis to prove who was also a viable material.

After the death of Ford, Chevrolet, Ford and Chrysler, as well as many foreign automakers would have plenty of plastic in their cars. Today, you won't find a modern car without it. SAE standard wheel dimensions and its application to repair of Tractor


SAE boxes and dimensions of the wheel needs to be understood by the mechanic, farmer or DIY individual as necessary to identify the tractor engine components for repair, replacement of the engine or transmission replacements. SAE is an abbreviation for the society of automotive engineers (SAE) and its standards or guidelines. SAE has many patterns, and this tractor repair tip will play in a standard, SAE standard which provides guidance on boxes and dimensions of the wheel.

To begin with, where is it used?

According to SAE SAE, "this standard specifies large dimensions and tolerances for flywheel and transmission housing Flange mating. He also finds the crankshaft flange face or pilot hole of transmission (or pilot taking bore) stop face in face of SAE flange housing

To understand this, let's look at this example.

A client wanted to remove a Fiat engine in a combine of CP3 152 M and replace it with a Perkins 1006.6. The first item that should be confirmed if the engine Perkins 1006.6 will screw for Laverda combine transmission. To do this, he compared both numbers SAE boxes. If the two boxes of SAE designations are the same, then the Perkins will screw for Laverda combine transmission. If not, then of course, this is a bad idea.

For example, a brand of SAE SAE housing can be 21. This is a setting of housing tapped hole 12, with specific dimensions. This number 21 SAE will be embossed, or cast into the housing of flywheel and transmission housing. Both need to be 21 SAE for there to be a perfect fit.

Flywheel dimensions standard SAE is designated for five measurements, which, when compared, will specify a number of SAE. These five measurements are XD, XB, XE, XG, XF.

XB is the outside diameter of the housing of a standard for other standard screw bolt, measured Center to Center.

XD is the outside diameter of housing internal housing tip to the other. Similarly, other abbreviations are defined the same way. A local search on the internet for SAE housing dimensions can provide such a graphic in a format easy to print.

These standards are fully used by all major manufacturers transmission, motor and flywheel as Allison, Dana, Clark, Spicer, Rockwell, Fuller or Funk. Therefore, it is not surprising that these companies are suppliers of transmission, motor and wheel OEM for most major manufacturers of engines and transmissions.

So, next time a situation emerges to change his engine, or its transmission, compare the names SAE before buying or starting your repair.

In do-it-yourself, many people want to fix their own vehicles. But is it really a good idea to try to work on your vehicle Ford yourself?

There's nothing like getting a new car. The way it feels when you sign on the dotted line and slide inside the vehicle as its new owner for the first time is simply beyond compare. But then some time on the road, your vehicle starts acting funny. Maybe he is jumping around more than it should be, or maybe the air-conditioning unit began to malfunction. Because we're becoming a do-it-yourselfers, many people try to buy cheap spare parts and make the correction ourselves. This, however, can be a good idea.

Repair of the concessionaire

Most offices of Ford dealers really have a repair plan for your new vehicle. But unfortunately the majority of vehicles only have a problem with them after the warranty has run out. This can be very frustrating for those who love your vehicle and who want it running perfectly again and for those who aren't willing to pay the huge bill that comes along with having the vehicle repaired in a full service garage. But in reality is actually a much better idea to have your vehicle repaired at a Ford dealership Ford is trying to repair it at home, especially if you don't have much experience in fixing cars.

One of the main reasons why it is a good idea to use a Ford dealership to fix your vehicle instead of trying to fix it yourself is because the tools needed to fix the vehicle. Many of the newer vehicles that are being released require very specific tools for disassembling parts or put them together. An example is the brake pads. Brake pads used to be very easy to change, and many men found themselves fix them in your garage every few years. Newer vehicles, however, has brake pads that are removable only with a specific tool, and most of us don't have these tools in our garages, same that we use to change out our brake pads.

And then there are parties. Ten to twenty years ago, the only thing you had to do to fix your vehicle was going to a parts store. People in the shop of pieces not only had the parts you need to fix your vehicle, but often they could also give you advice on how to fix whatever was wrong in your vehicle. Now, however, the only place you can get many of the pieces that you need to fix your vehicle directly from the dealer, and you don't want to buy directly from the dealer. The purchase price of just one party generally is quite steep and much larger than if you were to have the concessionaire to do work on your car. And you know, if you have the job done properly, that all that was broken be fixed correctly.

Do it yourself repair truck, nightmare case study # 2 – author

I'm dredging up this case study about a 1994 Ford F-150 that appeared to have some serious engine performance issues, when in fact it turned out to have a simple problem most technicians rarely consider, let alone test for. I had maintained and repaired this particular vehicle for over 2 years, including doing extensive work to the front end, suspension, fuel delivery system and even an engine replacement. All recommended services were promptly addressed and completed. My rapport with this customer was very good and he trusted me explicitly for repairs to all his vehicles.

The truck came to my shop with the engine running very rough only when warmed up. It had been tuned up less than 6 months prior. I did notice a new alternator had been installed and not by me. I remembered the customer had told me he was on vacation a month ago and had it installed because it failed while traveling. I inspected both the primary and secondary ignition system for signs of failure. These systems checked out fine. I hooked up my scan tool to retrieve any service codes, there where none. I ran both a "key on engine off" and "key on engine running" self tests with my scanner. No codes where retrieved. I then went to data stream mode and observed the critical engine control inputs and outputs. All readings appeared normal except for the upstream O2 sensors; both indicating "fixed rich".

I immediately attached my lab scope and verified the condition of the upstream O2's. Both where at .75 - .9 volts and not "shifting". By the sound of the engine and the condition of the upstream O2 sensors, I was inclined to believe that the vehicle possibly had an ignition timing issue. I then attached my timing light, unplugged the "timing jumper" and checked base timing. I was dead on. I reconnected the timing jumper and checked the PCM's timing control. It was all over the map! I could not get a stable reading, even at idle. This lead me to conduct testing on the Ignition Module and Pick Up Coil Assemblies. These components also tested fine.

At this point I was roughly an hour and 15 minutes into the diagnosis of this truck. It's been my practice to stop after an hour, re-evaluate and brainstorm or research after this point. My shop had on line access to a repair data base and additionally, we had hard copies of repair tracking information (I highly recommend both for any shop!) and I spent some time researching possible causes for this symptom. One possible cause that displayed the exact symptoms was that the distributor shaft had become "magnetized" and was interfering with the Ignition Modules performance in controlling engine timing. A simple test was to remove the Distributor Cap and Rotor and with an unmagnetized piece of steel, check if the Distributor Shaft is magnetized. It was! Problem solved.

I ordered a re-manufactured Distributor from my local parts supplier, called the customer with my diagnosis and got authorization to do the repairs. I installed the Distributor, reset the ignition timing, verified "closed loop fuel control" with my scanner, test drove the vehicle and billed out the Repair Order. The customer paid his bill, picked up his truck and went on his way.

The very next day the customer called me and said that his truck was doing the same exact thing, additionally it would run rough sometimes and at other times ran fine. And it "seemed" to run better when it was cold. I made some notes and told him to bring the truck in. When he arrived the truck was running fine, but the customer decided to leave it with me as he was unsure of its reliability and did not want to be left stranded somewhere if it broke down. He also inquired about the previous repairs AND bill. Its been my practice to compensate any of my customers if I misdiagnose a vehicle and explained to him that his previous bill would be applied to this repair, (a practice I wish more shops did!) if in fact I had misdiagnosed the problem.

Over the course of next 3 days, every spare moment I had was spent trying to diagnose this truck. Some times it would exhibit the problem and other times it would run fine. I had an estimated 8+ additional hours spent trying to get this problem solved. Countless hours in my off time researching. I had even dusted off an old OEM Ford Repair Manual looking for clues! The customer had called numerous times for updates, hoping it was repaired. My customer service skills were on the line, not to mention my reputation and lets not forget my professional pride!

My frustration level by then was topping out at around a 10.5. I finally swallowed my pride, picked up the phone and called one of my "mentors", one of the many persons who had trained me in the proper procedures of approaching these types of problems. After describing the problem and the steps I had taken to correct it, the very first words out of his mouth were, "Did you check the alternator, with your lab scope, for excessive AC voltage output?" As soon as he uttered those words, this light went off in my head! I said to myself, well I won't say what I said to myself because it wasn't pretty!

Note: Most vehicles are "powered" by 12 volt DC. The battery is 12 volt DC. The Alternator produces AC current and internal electronic components converts this to AC voltage to DC voltage and regulates the amount of voltage going to the battery to keep it charged (usually 14.5 volts DC).

I set up my lab scope and tested the alternator. The AC voltage output was in excess of 1 volt! Simply put, AC voltage has no place in a DC voltage system! A general "rule of thumb" is (and this may vary depending upon who you ask) no more than .3 VAC. A new or quality re-manufactured alternator will have an AC voltage output in the millivolt range (less than a tenth of a VAC). A sub-standard re-manufactured alternator had been installed. The alternator was putting out too much AC voltage and causing the the problem with this truck. I replaced the alternator with a quality re-manufactured one, tested its output and performance and sent the customer on his way.

Note: When testing for AC output always test at the alternator, never test at the battery. There are also quality battery/charging system testers available, I prefer the lab scope.

Needless to say, this test was added to my regimen of "Standard Testing Procedures". Its quick and takes less than 5 minutes! I strongly recommend to all shop owners and technicians to have a set of written tests to conduct on any engine performance issues. It does not have to be anything extravagant, 2 or 3 pages of standard tests to rule out (or rule in!) certain components. Additionally some of the major parts suppliers offer testing procedures for free or little cost, use them as a guide to tailor it to your own needs. I also recommend to all shop owners, who do not have it, to make the investment in their business and purchase some sort of repair database. Whether online access, CD or DVD. With the time and money you will save, in the long run, it will more than pay for itself!

Proper testing and knowing how to test is paramount. I urge all shop owners and technicians alike to get properly trained and get certified. We are professionals! Each and every year new vehicles become more technologically advanced and we have to stay current with this technology. We don't have a choice!
